Ready Player One sets in the future. Where no one really lives in the real world anymore. Everyone spends their time in the "Oasis". Which is a place that has been built in the virtual world. Schools are no longer in the real world they are in the Oasis. The real world is now a trash house for everything else. Only the rich live well. However, when the game maker of the Oasis died, there was an Easter Egg released in the game. Whoever found this Easter egg would be granted the whole lot of James Hallidays earnings, which was in the hundreds of billions, and also become the in-game owner of the Oasis. The story follows Wade Watts, who lives in the 'stacks' which is trailer homes stacked on one another. He is a poor boy who is still in school and lives with his aunt. However, when the Easter egg was released, any spare time Wade Watts had, he spent in the Oasis as a gunter, which is a person who is hunting to find the egg. Wade Watts, also known as Parzival in the Oasis, had been the very first person to find the first key to finding the egg. There were three keys in total. However, once everyone heard of this, Parzival was world famous. Later, a player named Art3mis had found the first key, Art3mis was a blogger and a gunter, she was well known for her blogs on the Easter egg and Parzival was even a big fan of hers. However, since she had been the second person to find the key, she got 10,000 less points than Parzival had. Next, Parzival's best friend, Aech, found the first key, but got 10,000 less points than Art3mis. The rest of the plot is very interesting and keeps you guessing, as all three of these people get to know each other and still fight for the keys. The theme of Ready Player One is rather interesting and is quite entertaining. It keeps you intrigued and also makes you feel for the characters, you relate with them. The main theme in Ready Player One I would say is a mysterious, futuristic, and challenge type of book. It relies on one person and if he can figure out who to trust and who not to trust. Also it is a type of underdog book, Wade Watts is a poor individual with nothing more than the average person. He comes back to defeat the all powerful company of IOI, who bought out the Oasis but still did not learn where the Easter egg was hidden. Wade Watts defeats all odds and becomes one of the richest people in the world.
